Rock am Ring 2009

April 30th, 2009

One of the most important music events in Germany is certainly Rock am Ring, that takes place annually in summer. The festival, which incidentally takes place annually since 1985, is well known and not only in Germany. This event has a great success both for the organizers, as well as for the bands, which got their popularity throughout Europe with the help of this festival and also for the spectators, including me. Unfortunately, I am not a regular guest of the festival, as I do not always have enough time, besides sometimes it is difficult to find a company for enjoying these days. This year I will not be able to participate, because I have planned a lot for June and I guess that my plans do not passes with my possibilities. But for those who were not there, but want to go to the festival this year, I recommend sincerely to buy the tickets for the festival in advance, because from my experience they are often sold out very quickly.

Ryanair plans to abolish the airport terminal registration

January 12th, 2009

For those who like to fly with Ryanair, these are good news. Soon, the airport registration will be abolished. This means that those people who travel with luggage or passport of a country that is not in the EEA, no longer need to get the airport 2 hours before departure, but will soon have the opportunity to use very comfortable possibility of registration over the Internet. This is very comfortable and not just because you save € 10 registration fee, but because we you are able now to go to the airport a little later than always. This is very important because the flights are starting often at 7 or 8 clock and it’s pretty exhausting to wake at 4 or even 3 clock up, especially if you are planning just a short weekend-trip.
Some thing, as I think is not really great. The Ryanair company thinks about to demand money for the visit to the toilet area during the flight. Although I have never used this possibility, but I still think this idea of charging for toilet room would be bad for the image of the company.

CeBIT 2009 March 3-8 2009

December 16th, 2008

It is not to deny that this exhibition has recently lost much of its value. The reasons may vary. The main reason seems to be that the people who attend this exhibition, often don’t correspond to group that is interesting for exhibitors.
My experience shows that it is because too many people who only come to the exhibition because of pure curiosity. This problem is of course not new, but each time, before the opening of the exhibition, I think about if it still makes sense to me, to visit this exhibition. Although I have a possibility to go to Hannover and visit CeBIT and return home for only 20 €. It is possible because I’m a student of IT and our university offers those trips. However, I really do not want to join me to this large amount of bargain seekers or bored seniors.
I find it quite interesting, to talk with Sun people personally in touch and lern about new features of their products. The lectures on Visual C ++ in MS I also find useful too.
To the point, the partner country of this year is California. This means that there are many companies of Silicon Valley will be there.

“Living in Art. Interior Exterior”, Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg

November 30th, 2008

A reference to this exhibition I recently found on the website of Spiegel Online. Here is a qoute from the homepage of Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg which describes this exhibition:

The first strand explores home design and interior decoration as an expression of our inner feelings and moods. Depictions of interiors show people spending time in indoor settings and observe what they do there. Across a range of different media – from the traditional discipline of painting to later forms such as photography, installation art and film – artists have reflected, analyzed and staged the interior as the external dimension of its inhabitants’ inner worlds.

The second strand addresses the question of how we wish to (or how we should) live. Focussing on proposals, ideologies, utopias and convictions developed by architects, sociologists, urbanists and designers with regard to the construction, furnishing, use and style of living spaces and furniture, it presents interior design solutions between the extremes of luxuriously furnished dens and utilitarian, box-like dwellings, and also considers the positive or negative influence our immediate surroundings can have on our lives.

The exhibition “Living in Art. Interior Exterior ” is currently at the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg and goes until April 13, 2009.
The following artists are, according to the website of the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg represented:
Henry van de Velde, Felix Vallotton, Henri Matisse, Adolf Loos, Bruce Nauman, Eric Fischl Thomas Demand, Jasper Morrison. Konstantin Grcic.

If you are not sure whether you would like to visit this exhibition or not, I recommend a quick look at the website of the museum. There are some really interessting photos from the exhibition. If you see this photos, you will realize how interessting this exhibition is.

Photokina 2008

September 29th, 2008

If anyone still does not know Photokina is a photo exhibition, in Cologne. It takes place every 2 years. The exhibition starts on 23 September and ends on 28 September.
Many would perhaps think that this exhibition is only for professional photographers and is not interesting for ordinary people. It is not true. This exhibition is designed for broad audiences and offers many interesting things. Because I already visited this exhibition, I can tell here about some interesting exhibits. For example, I was very pleased by a new compact cameras with facial recognition. It recognizes not only the face of a man, but is able to detect and analyze a smile. You can setup, how big the smile should be, so that the camera is triggered automatically. Very important, I think the fact that almost all manufacturers give the possibility to try out almost all cameras and save the photos on your own memory card. When I wanted to save photos from Leica M8 and noted that I don’t have a SD memory card, the nice lady, who brought me this camera, was so nice to borrow me such card, so I was able to use this card and make a few photos, which I copied on my Netbook via a built-card reader. Furthermore, I was fascinated of the new SLRs from Pentax, as I saw them in the sand or in an artificial tropical environment. They were unprotected, and apparently resistant to these environments.
It was also very interesting, to hold the new top models from Leica, Hasselblad, Seitz, Alpha and Mamiya with own hands. A normal person has such possibility not every day, to hold those camera, which costs several thousand euros, in the hands. I could try most of them with my memory card and keep my test images.

Rhein in Flammen

July 31st, 2008

Rhine in flames Rhine in Flames (orig. Rhein in Flammen) is one of the most beautiful events that take place in Germany. The tradition, to let the flames light on the banks of the Rhine is now 8 years old. Thousands of people are excited to see the show every year. The big fireworks show will take place in different cities on different dates. I’m waiting for this event every year with longing, because I am passionate photographer and a fireworks show belongs to my favorite motifs. Unfortunately I missed the opportunity this year to admire the fireworks in Bingen. I simply forgot the deadline, although I thought one day before about this event. Fortunately, this event takes place on 9 august in Koblenz too. This time I’ll not forget the deadline. I program my PDA, my notebook and my desktop computer, to see a reminder on the right day. I recommend it to anyone who had not a possibility to visit this event this year in other cities. There is always a great show in Koblenz. It will be unforgettable. For photographers this is a must event. You will not find a better possibility to make a photo from a firework than at 9 august in Koblenz.

ILA

May 30th, 2008

Thanks to the Spiegel article “The fighter, forgive any error,” I got to know about a very interesting event. It is an air show, which appears every year in Berlin. The name of the show is “ILA” or “International Aerospace Exhibition and Conferences. This year the show begins on May 27 to June 1.
There are 1127 exhibitors from 37 different countries came to Germany at the air show this year. There are more than 300 aircrafts to visit. Some of them can be seen in flight. The largest exhibitor this year are India (Partner Country 2008), Russia and the United States.
As highlights of the exhibition is the new aircraft from Airbus – A380, as well as Antonov An-124 and Lookheed C-5 Galaxy. All three aircrafts are the largest flying machines in the world.
An exciting entertainment will give you the simulator of Eurofighter. Visitors of the exhibition will have an opportunity to participate in a virtual fight without to have worry for their own safety or have to complete a training as a pilot. But this does not mean, that you can control the simulator with a computer joystick or keyboard. The simulator has several buttons and switches, which are also can be found in a real Eurofighter.
The price for entrance for individuals is 17 and with a discount – 11 euros. I think the price is not very high. For example, if you compare it with the entrance to Landesgartenschau of Bingen (14 euros or 12 off) , which I visited last month. The Landesgartenschau of Bingen was also a very great disappointment for me. I would not recommend this to visit, especially for that price.

I can’t visit the exhibition this year because I will go to Portugal at this time. It would be a perfect opportunity for my to test my new ultra-zoom lens from Canon.

“Now in Berlin: For dozen of new Dalis! It is a “Renissage” of big exhibition with spectacular artworks.”
The Exhibition will be opened on 22th March 2007 in DomAquarée. There are 347 artworks will be available to see.

http://www.dali-ausstellung.de/

As for me, I like Dali and now I have a possibility to see a big collection of his works. The only one problem is that Berlin is far away, but on Friday I drive to my girlfriend to Hannover and maybe we would take a train on Sunday to Berlin.
